hello all. here in winchester. finally scored a computer that had access to hotmail, msn, myspace, and my blog. it's been tragic with the obsurdly hightened internet security at this place. still figuring out how i can upload pictures onto this computer (c. 1983?) and show you all a little bit of my new town. i'm at st. swithun's boarding school for girls in winchester, hampshire. i love it here. the work is good and the area is beautiful. my room is small, but it's got what i need. it's a decent sized square with a bed, wardrobe, loveseat and a desk. and there's an ensuit bathroom with a shower and everything. then next door is the staff kitchen (which only i use) and two common rooms with digi boxes, dvds and vcrs. i also have a tv in my room, but i'm yet to watch it because england (without cable) has three decent channels, one in fuzzy french and 76 of snow. my fellow gappers include alrun (schmitti) from germany and maria (jose) from paraguay. we've been having a great time together, wandering around town and hitting up the local pubs. our favorite is the railway. they have great live music for pretty cheap. and schmitti's decided that i'm a local celebrity because everytime we see this one guy he starts smiling and waving... never met him before either, which is probably the weirdest part...
but i have to go learn how to use a mamoth photocopy machine that i've affectionatley named mammoth. it's actually the same size as my car but with way more bells and whistles (literally bells.) maybe beast and mammoth can be friends?
